local/ share/dhewm3\ n\nFor more details, type this in terminal:\nman dhewm3" \ text= "Put the base directory containing pak00*.pk4\ndata files into this location: \n$HOME/. Zenity -error -title="No data files found" \ And when the check can't find the data files, it's better to display a message like this: So, the only files to be checked for are the ones mentioned above. The data files for `Resurrection of Evil` expansion pack are optional and ?????3 doesn't need it to run. BASEPATH set by `+set fs_basepath` command line parameter./usr/share/ games/dhewm3 (Symlink to /usr/share/ games/doom3).pk4 files placed in base directory in any one of the following paths: So, there's no meaning in checking for it. There is a `default.cfg` in the pak000.pk4 data file, but it won't be extracted to `$HOME/. cfg` should be removed, coz ?????3 never creates or needs that file. The ??????? build will work if the `/usr/games/dhewm3` script is fixed. The ???? build's changelog says added patches for SDL2 MIR and dhewm3-dedicated manpage. However the ?????3 binaries in the two builds aren't exactly the same. And yes, directly executing ???????'s `/usr/lib/ games/dhewm3/ dhewm3` works.

If the data files are not in any expected locations, the ???? build will fail silently. The ???? build directly executes the ?????3 binary, whereas the ??????? build first executes a script which does a check for data files and if found, calls the ?????3 binary. On inspecting the two builds I was able to find the differences between ??????? and ???? builds. Similar to this, ?????? could hint the data file location - ~/.local/ share/dhewm3 in it's package description. See it's description- net/updates/ ubuntu/ 14.04/? q=rbdoom3bfg. Common users get confused and misled by the official FAQ and documentation and will be unable to find the correct $BASEPATH. However, the changed locations are mentioned nowhere except the manpage. This is of course fine and part of debianizing the package by changing it to standard debian game data locations. This problem gets further worsened due to ??????'s Debian build using a different $BASEPATH location (/usr/share/ games/dhewm3 or /usr/share/ games/doom3) instead of the ones mentioned in the ?????? official project page - https:/ /github.

Please, update playdeb's ?????? to ????'s version.īoth ??????? and ???? ?????? package descriptions doesn't give any idea about the location where the data files are to be placed. This problem doesn't exist in the build of ?????? in ????'s PPA - https:/ /launchpad.
